I face the sun
hoping
the shadows
remain behind me
so even if I cannot forget
I don’t have to live
the bitter memories

is an incomplete soul
and weakened flesh

afraid
to breathe
because of the pain
I had to endure
alone
and embracing the wind
it’s cold against the sun’s warmth
reminding me
of how hard it is
to take the first step and live again

I need to know
that yesterday
was just yesterday
and that today
is not too late
for me
to see
to be
to hope and dream
of what it’s like
to let go of

that became the worst part of me
