it didn’t take me long
to see which side you were on
from the very beginning
I knew
love is just a game to you
curious though
as usually I am
you dealt out the cards
and I looked at my hand
then I bet you don’t remember when
you told me all about your group of friends

about
how they like to tear people down
warning me that I’d be next
if I didn’t submit
under their superiority complex

forcing them to their knees

but
I only bend when I want too
despite how appearances look

until I see what starts out good
turns into a very bad romance
and then
as silence creeps under my door
it covers me with warmth
and I take such comfort
in that we won't talk anymore

we’ll only barely regret

for how she taught you so well
and I’ll softly close the door behind me
because I’m done serving time in your hell
