Thinking I need to figure out whether the color display issues on this monitor are due to a problem with the monitor itself or with the graphics card in the tower. Thinking, "Oh boy, I'll waste half the day troubleshooting... and who decided it was a good idea to leave Microsoft .NET un-updated on this machine? Now I get to update that just so I can make the diagnostics work properly." (Later) Thinking, "Gee, I wonder what the IT folks do all day that the temp admin assistant winds up fixing computer problems just so she can do the stuff that's actually in her job description?"

...after controlling for all variables, including the one I'd forgotten to swap out earlier... Bad pin on the connector cable between tower and monitor. I could've sworn I'd checked that... Okay, so now I'm thinking, "What's for lunch?" ...and why the #%$& has the network drive suddenly vanished? makes mental note to buy a MegaMillions ticket on the way home
