Seriously, do not quit school. You always think you can go back but it gets so much harder as you get older. Unfortunate voice of experience here! Hang in there, accept any and all help and you'll make it.

You keep going! Contact your local family services department,
they usually have assistance for day care, etc...Stay in school, not just for you but for your baby also. Good Luck |

I hope you find good care for the baby while you're taking your classes and Kudos to you for sticking with your plans for college. Hopefully the school will have some kind of help available for Mom's in your situation, because you are probably not alone. I can't stress enough the importance of good care for the baby, so please be very careful as you interview possible sitters or centers. Call them during the day to check on the baby and let them know you care very much how the baby is cared for when your away. Good Luck to you.

Congratulations, first of all. I'm 20, and I'm 14 weeks pregnant. I'm in college and not planning on quitting either. You're timing was lucky at least- you didn't have to miss any school. I'm due in february so I'm going to have to take off for the spring semester, but I'm enrolled fulltime this fall and plan on returning in the summer or fall next year. It's not easy- and there are sacrafices to be made. I was supposed to transfer to another school to pursue my desired major, but had to switch my career path to stay local and be able to mother my baby. I don't have the help of the baby's father, since he ran out of the picture a few weeks after finding out I was pregnant. There are services though. Medicaid and WIC and all of those public assistance programs shouldn't be frowned upon. They'll help you out so that you don't have to overload yourself and you can have an easier time being a successful mother. Also, check out local churches- I'm an atheist myself, but they are generous in regards to preserving the life of a child. They'll help no matter what your faith. And let your friends support you- as few or as many are willing. Good luck to you- and if you ever need to chat- feel free to come to me.

what is the question exactly?????

If you qualify for public assistance, you qualify for free child care. If you're not sure if you qualify, go down to your nearest DCF (Department of Children and Family) office, and apply. Your college may even have a day care program that you qualify for. I dont' know how many agencies will deal with a new born, but give it a shot. You never know.
I'm a single mom of 5 (now), and I was attending law school when I only had my 4 oldest boys at home...but they were in school. I couldn't handle the responsibility of 4 kids, a hubby, a house, cooking, chores and the homework and studies of law school...etc...so after my 2nd year, i had to quit ...so i fell back on my Accounting degree. I'm 38 now, and just started back in law school. Don't quit ! what ever you do ! you will regret it, i know i did. There is help out there, you just have to find it. Best of luck to you |

I had my daughter when I was 19. Her father was in jail and I thought when he came home he was going to be a part of her life. Needless to say he was not. But I have raised her for the last 8 months on my own and I will continue to do so. You just need to believe in yourself. And know what's best for you and your child. Things always get better. I wish you a lot of luck.

NEVER GIVE UP ... I HAVE A 9 MONTH OLD AND I WAS TRYING TO TAKE CLASSES THIS SUMMER. BUT I DID NOT COMPLETE THEM BECAUSE OF WORK. GO TO SCHOOL WHILE YOU CAN WITH OUT HAVING TO WORK FULL TIME. IT WILL BE HARD AND THATS NO LIE. YOU WILL DIE FOR SLEEP. BUT DONT GIVE UP, USE EVERY RESOURCE THATS OUT THERE EVEN IF IT MEANS GOING ONLINE AND ASKING FOR HELP FROM SOMEONE WITH SCHOOL WORK (NO PLAGERIZING YOUNG LADY) BUT IF SOMEONE CAN HELP ASK.

it's so hard out there. I thank god every day that I am here to help my daughter with her son, my precious little grandbaby
Do not be too proud to reach out and ask for help. Go to your local DES office they usually have a list of people that can help you. All of us have paid into these programs and it warms our hearts that here is a young woman who is really trying to make a good life for herself and her child, you deserve to get this help! |

Honey I was in the same boat, trust me, keep your head up! Things will get so much better, and your baby will be your biggest joy!

For me, the baby years were the toughest, so just remember that as the child gets older, things get easier on you. I only could handle one though.
