i think telling the truth is the best way to go... if people get upset from the truth, then it is their problem, not yours...

I try not to ever lie, or be in a situation that would prompt that.

I would tell them the truth and hurt them rather than lie and hurt them. Eventually the lie will come out and in my opinion; and then there will be trust issues.

I believe that the truth will set you free
It's better to be up front open with the person.
No one likes to hear the truth the old saying
Goes the truth hurts but in the long run
Especially when things seem to be transparent

The truth. Not because it's the 'right thing to do,' but because it's a waste of my time and energy to think of a lie in the first place. I rather let the truth be known and just deal with it so I can move on from the situation itself.

The good thing about the truth is:

You never have to remember what the lie was you told....and lies beget lies.

I would rather tell the truth in any given situation.

Morally speaking I don't like lies I'm not in the habit of lying to anyone...most especially those I love. However, if someone I love asked me a question, and the truth would hurt them unnecessarily, I would be compelled to bend the truth.

Case in point...my mother recently dyed her hair. RED. Not red...RED. Honestly it looked like someone lit her head on fire and ran away. I wasn't a fan...to say the least. The next time I saw her she said, "don't you love this color?" I told her, "It's very bright, but it looks good on you." Did I really think it did? No. Did I bend the truth to save her feelings? Yes. Do I feel bad for doing it? No. She deserves my support for the things that make her happy and make her feel good about herself.

If that makes me a bad person...so be it.

Well basically you didnt hurt her.... But do u think she cant get a hold of those unwanted attention and harsh comments being thrown her way? If i am ur mother i would say " well my daughter told me it looked good on me..."...well thats just my opinion.... Dont hate me for this... Peace∩_∩v

First...of course I don't hate you for disagreeing with me or posing the other side of the coin. Healthy debate and conversation is always welcome.

Second...should someone else have offered a less-than-favorable "honest" opinion, that was their opinion and they are certainly welcome to it. If what they say to her causes her pain, they caused it. I offered support and acceptance, regardless of my true opinion.

Are you saying that your mother was too fragile to handle the truth?

What am I supposed to say if a woman asks me, "Do these clothes make me look fat?"

The truth would be, "No, your fatness makes you look fat."

It would be better for a man to run away rather than to answer that question truthfully.

Always the truth!!!!! It takes the same amount of breath to tell truth as it does to tell a lie!

I was taught as a child that the truth shall make you free, so I ventured out to seek the truth. And I found it. Did it make me free?
Hell, no. Did it make me frightened, defensive and insecure? You bet it did. So now I know the truth about "the truth". Avoid it at all costs. Make up your own truth(s) and stick to it no matter how little sense it makes. And sooner or later, you'll have converts. Trust me.
Everything is a lie and that is the truth...happy
Whose truth is out there? Fox Mulder never found his...

You just give yourself a headache.... Why not just tell it than to create your own truth...seems like your your giving yourself another problem. Truth hurts i know but its hurts more than you know a certain person hide the truth from you.... And the only thing that lessen the hurt is to accept the truth...than to live with a lie your whole life

I always tell the truth, when you feel that you have to start lying then you must feel that you could not have a relationship without lying. IF you lie, you have to keep lying and before you know it..it becomes way out of control. I think you lose yourself in the lies that you tell. JUST BE HONEST, NO ONE IS WORTH CHANGING YOURSELF TO FIT INTO THEIR LIFE. IF YOU DON'T FIT THE WAY YOU ARE, YOU ARE NOT GOING TO FIT BY LYING!!!
