have you ever been in love
did you know what you were really thinking of
were you actually thinking at all
or just feeling your way through
wanting to believe it was true

do you remember what its like
to want to be blind
when you know inside
that something isn’t right
but you had to hold on
you want to have faith
that you haven’t been played
with each passing day
you open your door a little bit more
stepping out into the unknown
but wanting desperately to remain in your comfort zone
how else would you be able to know
if you don’t get the courage to just let go

then unexpectedly
like receiving a reward for bravery under pressure
you hear out loud what your heart felt
but you were too afraid to admit yourself
“I love you”…
oooohhh… how my insides came alive
did he really say that
should I tell him
what I’ve held in
oh yes… of course…
“I love you too”…
I said with a smile on my heart so wide
I thought it was going to burst with pride

but
at the end of that conversation
immediately my head was questioning
the fear and doubt wasn’t lessening
it must be true because he said it to me
first
I thought without hesitation
well we both took that step
he said, she said
what else could be his motivation
tomorrow is another day
and I’ll see if words is all he’ll say
then I turned the light off and went to bed
