Maybe. I've talked to a few men and women who have lied about themselves. Not necessarily age but marital status, occupations, etc.

I once talked to a man that passed himself off as white in his profile pictures, only for me to find out later he is actually black. I don't know how he thought he would be able to pull that big whooper of a lie off if he ever wanted to hook up with a woman in person.

I had a man contact me. One day his picture was that of a white man and the next day it was that of a black man. I just reported the person so he wouldn't keep doing it to other people. I think this person was a spammer. How do I even know it was a male?

I get this crap all the time but its usually a scammer. Lots of guys trying to pass themselves off as military yet don't have a clue about the military. Or my fave is a guy that says he has a University degree yet can't spell to save his life. Now on the non scammer side; I get guys emailing me that they are athletic and love to cycle but when I meet them; they not only have a beer gut; they can barely cycle 10 km.

I know what you mean, cutiepie, unless we look these people in the face, it's impossible to know what we're really dealing with. And it's gotten so prevalent on these dating sites, ridiculous emails that read like all these guys are copying the same script, that I don't even care about finding a guy anymore. I just like to write and post with my friends, and forget about ever trying to meet a truly sincere and honorable man online. Then, when you finally do think you've found a 1/2 way normal and decent guy, after being friends for a while and making serious promises they just flake out... It's really a discouraging experience..
