A tired, broken veteran
Eyes grown dim with age Wanders streets a homeless soul Where is my countrys rage? What's happened to our nation When our veterans are lost When politics and policies Can't justify the cost They served their country, made it home Though broken they may be Now homeless in America A country they kept free They gave their all for others rights So they might have their say With voices they keep silent While we treat our vets this way These warhawk politicians Serve corporate interest well Bailout banks and Wall Street While veterans live in Hell This vet who gave his all for us Now begs for scraps of bread No home, no job, no help, no hope No pillow for his head |

So true, a beautiful poem.

Made me feel sad and a fearful of the future.

Your words are very moving and accurate, Soul... the system isn't all it's cracked up to be... I'm sure once the Vets figure this out they'd rather take their chances on the streets. It's to bad that churches don't do more for them... thanks for keeping them in our minds and hearts...
