The Journey To Here

Today I met a new friend, who blessed me with a smile
I couldn't turn and walk away, we had to talk awhile
I found we were a lot alike, with words we'd stopped to share
We talked on many subjects, they really seemed to care

We laughed at many silly things, that happened in our life
We shared an understanding, when the topic turned to strife
I really couldn't help but think, they truly understood
And sharing, with my new found friend, it made me feel quite good

We had but just a minute, in our busy, hectic day
We both had things, that must be done, yet paused here anyway
Many rushed and passed us by, like busy little drones
Gulping down their hurried drinks, and talking on their phones

We shared a smile about that too, when my friend said to me
"How can you live a happy life, and not enjoy a tree?"
I turned and looked, and sure enough, I hadn't even seen
The many trees, that lined the streets, and one right next to me!

Suddenly, I realized, they'd given me a gift
By pointing out what I had missed, it gave my soul a lift
How many times I'd past this place, and even yet today
And never even noticed trees I'd passed along the way

I realized my thoughtlessness, the things I took for spite
Like something simple as a tree that always missed my sight
Here among the concrete, and the busy, dirty, street
To see this thing of beauty, yet by no means unique

My friend moved on but parted with a hand shake and a smile
I noticed I was smiling, and had been all the while
This stranger I had never met, had truly blessed my life
I found I had forgotten of my hardships and my strife

So I share with you this story hoping it will help you too
To try and find the beauty, in anything you do
For when you pause, and look around, one thing comes quite clear
It's not the destination, but the journey, to right here!

As I read this, I was reminded of a few similar experiences....Some extraordinary people I met while doing the most mundane things!...I will probably never see any of them again, but I will never forget them either because they touch me in a special, unexpected way...Love this Soul man!

I really like your story, Soul... we never know what we could be missing until we allow others to share their vision too.. We only have this one walk through life, and I don't want to miss a minute of its beauty, even its strife teaches me to be thankful for my blessings... thank you for sharing...

As always you take us upon a journey that has been forgotten...Thank you my friend of reminding us what is before our very eyes we seem to overlook....

it has been far too long my friend.

All journeys have attractions along the way, some take a little more time and effort to know their value or learn their lesson.

Current world affairs have saddened my soul, so my need to write has again become my clarity.

And yes, it has been too long, and there is much clarity needed

Always feels like home here among old friends
