Walls thickened, in time
Fed by pains, from the past, no doubt. Strengthened by time, they will always be, Strong and stout just like a tree. Each layer, could be peeled away, One at a time, with no delay. Given the time, engulfed and shattered, Only to be set free by love. So, you say. “What is this? Why should I have to play, with your walls, That were tattered and torn this way?” My heart, am I just another toy for you? Or are you sure it is eternal love so true? If you dare look inside, you might find what you seek. A deep love that spans ages, and is worthy to keep. Sands of time, have no say, With the love waiting in, It is just, tried and true, For the touch of your hand. So come on, if you dare, To this heart that is true It’s been here, all this time, Waiting just for you. Melissa R. Thompson 1-16-2013 |

walls we build throughout our lives
every time a new wound strikes deep. We do it so automatically, it's become a natural protective reaction. So how do we allow others to see past them? When sometimes we don't even realize we have them. Ms Melissa, love, relationships... I wish I still had the naive belief I had even in my thirties... But, it seems like the older and wiser you get... well... thank you for sharing your heart in this piece... |
