I heard a question the other day.
They asked to see what others would say.
The question was what is your greatest fear?
I sat and watched as some volunteer.
To write there stories upon the post.
About what scared them the most.
Some wrote down and told.
That it scared them to grow old.
Then there was those scared of height.
Some were scared once it got dark at night.
When I was younger I use to have it in my head.
That by the time I was 33 I would be dead.
As those years came and was gone at last.
And I left those thoughts in the past.
For you see my Mom at 33 had died.
I was glad once those feelings subside.
But then new ones were to arise.
Shortly after my son was born as I looked into his eyes.
Then again 2 years later I had a baby girl.
To me she was as precious as a set of pearls.
Soon due to the thoughts my heart started sinking.
I sat here and just started thinking.
What if I don’t live long enough to see them grow?
Or the first time they get to play in the snow.
What could be worse than to miss their firsts?
To me there is nothing worst.
But slowly as the years went bye.
And the kids started Junior High.
Those fears finally started to go away.
Little by little they left each day.
Now my kids are grown.
My greatest fear now is being all alone.
Many I have told.
I want someone to hold.
To always be there for me.
It does not require a Masters degree.
I want to be able to curl up within there arms.
Have them protect me from all that harms.
To love me with all there heart.
As we share a love that will never part.
So now it seems to appear.
This is my last fear.
