Happy Holidays


Flakes from winter’s snow
fell like silent angels
decorating the world with peace and goodwill

Laughter
danced through homes
as children eagerly opened Santa’s surprises
as mom and dad
sneaked around the corner
to where the mistletoe hung

Wow’s and Yes! Tempered the cold
but the snow still called
snowballs were tossed about
Dive!
Duck!
Cover!
Gotcha . . . and life became the most amazing gift

Hot chocolate
with marshmallows warmed little hands
followed by breakfast and games
and more laughter throughout the day
with family and friends
calling
and stopping by until the moon interrupted the day

One by one
stars filled the sky
and shadows from the fire place
swam across the wall
the children sleepily found their way to bed
as mom and dad snuggled up while reliving the joy
of the holiday season
