I Cry Out…..

I cry out as darkness fills the land
though sun does rise to glorify this morn,
set calmly in the grace of eve
while snow falls white on barren fields of corn…

I cry out, for every tiny heart bemoan
yet my own heart swells in pride
for the bravest souls who shielded them
from price of death then died…

I cry out as the march proceeds
and gallant steeds carry home
each precious gift swept off too soon
in tides of red unknown…

I cry out, but will not question why
nor doubt the painful truth of life
Only can I bow my head in sad repose
cloaked in bent and broken strife...
