I am 42. My boyfriend is 37. He is way more mature than me. Do you think the age gap matters?

I don't think 5 years is that big of an age gap. Bigger age gaps tend to mean people are at different places in life, though, and makes it harder to date.

Age is simply two figures on a piece of paper. If two people truly love and respect each other, any age difference is unimportant. Besides, one is as young as one feels.

I just wish African men will start thinking like the white men. In Africa, ( nigeria) once you are one year older than a man he can never marry you or have anything to do with you. I Like the way you guys think and behave, both men and women, i am looking forward to have a relationship with one.

I don't know- I dated a woman ten years younger, she was 37. The biggest differences were in music, TV shows (what 37 yr old watches Delgrassi Junior High) and our own personality quirks.

As long as there is change, society, laws, religion etc that will matter to an extent. We grow up, grow apart, develop differences, develop different interests etc. Enjoy the love, respect, honor, happiness and joy that is mutual. Age difference, what is age? Only a transition, experience, knowledge, understanding and a developing build of personality.

I think five years is not much at all once we get past the general age of maturity (I think its around 24?) its more about similar life experience at that point,, so no now if he was 57 or 67, Id worry that he was at a totally different place in life that you had yet to experience for yourself, and its more likely to be a mismatch,,, from experience of having married with a twenty year age gap,, it mattered alot in the end, as well as our cultural differences

Five years is a small gap, especially if you actually like the person. I tend to date girls that are a few years older than me. Not on purpose. It just sorta happens. Somebody has to listen to my Leonard Cohen CD's with me.

From my experience I was involved with my former boyfriend for 4 yrs. he was 10 yrs my junior. We never felt the age difference. We just understood and connected really well intellectually. We both had oppertunities in different states so we drifted apart.

I don't think that age should be a factor in a relationship do to the fact that if the love is true each party in the relationship will find a way to equalize the difference in maturity. I was with a lovely. Lady that was fifteen years my junior and by her words I was better than most men her age because of her I became more active I truly lived. So no age doesn't matter

I know in my country many men marry women years older than they are. I also keep things open and wouldnt dare mind if she is older than me, as long as she has the right personality.
