I would say that if you are past the first 3-4 dates and you can say your one on one.. Then introduce them to some of your music to see what they think then go with it...
Actually had a guy that I dated that actually made me several CD's what he did though was make me a CD with the music he had found out that I enjoy listening too. Then he made one of the music he enjoyed for me to listen too. Even though we are not dating anymore I still have the CD's and actually listen to the one that was his kind of music. It is different but once in a while I do enjoy listening to it...  His was what he called New Age totally different from what I listen to but I do enjoy it...
See I would rather have stuff like that then flowers myself... It means more when one has to put some thought into it..  Regardless how simple it is. It will leave a impact!

I don't think you need to wait long. After a few dates, maybe? I think it's a great way share the music you like.

You can give that kind of gift right away. If the person likes the CD they will keep it for years to come, even after you break up. I had a old friend make me a tape, he was a record collector and had all kinds of music. I kept the tape for years because I like the music, even thou he didn't work out.
