Summer Concert


The sun is as high
as it will get
giving the world a spotlight to shine in
coolers are being pulled
here and there
as folks
search for an empty space
where their friends
and family can gather
for a day of smooth jazz

Umbrellas
folding chairs
and blankets
are scattered about
as the old
and young
sway to the sounds of the summer concert

There’s a mix
of music and conversation
filling the air
a bit of dancing too
the moment is easy
the music is phenomenal
and the people you’re enjoying it with
feel what you feel
the dry hot heat that is making you sweat like a pig

I’m just saying . . . I mean seriously
not every beautiful moment
has to be perfect
now pass the ice
and smile

I love it, mig.. a warm day filled with smooth jazz and friends kickin' back enjoying what feels good.. ..feels right.. well.. here's the ice..
