I find it interesting that so few have addressed the actual question. It's as if most people don't have a firm idea of what the job of government is or who it's supposed serve.

Your answer was: ...provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare and secure the blessings of liberty...

So do you think our current government is doing a good job at this?

I think even though there is a corrupt element involved (The banksters) I think over all this is a pretty amazing country to live in.

We need better education though.

Actually, I didn't say that, it's in the constitution. I just quoted it.

But, I do think our current administration is doing as good a as can be expected in moving us back to a government that serves the people in the ways mentioned in the constitution.

I think we've had about 50 years of the wealthy stacking the deck in their own favor and using religion to cloud this issues and cover their tracks.

I agree with you about the need for better education. Critical thinking needs to be high on the list of things to be learned.

I have a hard time believing that, knowing that Obama had generous support from the likes of Goldman-Sachs,Wallstreet in general and George Soros!

Add in millions from the Labor-Unions!

I was tempted to get into a political debate, but it would be off topic. This thread is about what the government's job is. Not about who's better at getting that job done.
