Sen. Saxby Chambliss is talking about renouncing the Norquist Pledge, even if he loses his seat for it.

when they can't come to an agreement and everyone's taxes go up on January 1st we will then see what all you higher tax lovers have to say...

I think the whole point is that he IS trying to find a way to come to agreement. As I understand it, there are ways they can agree without actually raising taxes. But just wrapping yourself in your principles and saying no to everything all day long isn't going to get there.
Plus, there's not a chance that "everyone's" taxes will go up, I don't know where you get that from. One option is increasing the tax rate on people who earn over $200,000. That's not me, for sure. Is it you? |

Is it you? Obama just recently held a press conference to discuss his tax plan which he claims will accomplish two things...Reduce the deficit and avoid the fiscal cliff...He says that 97% of small business will not be affected, but when you look at the numbers you see that he is not telling the whole story.... The treasury department says America has almost 35 million small businesses, 30 million of them are owner operated (no employees)...Of the remaining 5 million or so, 1.2 million have income above $200,000 which is where the tax hikes kick in... The 1.2 million small businesses are what people need to look at in order to understand completely what Obama's tax hikes mean in terms of government revenue and cost to Americans....Peeps need to understand that the 1.2 million small business that will be affected by Obama's tax increase account for a staggering 54% of all private sector jobs...Even though the 1.2 billion is only 3% of total small business, they earn 91% of ALL small business profits, they pay 44% of ALL federal business taxes, and they are huge job creators!...Obama is selling the public a bill of goods when he claims his tax increase is only for the rich...His tax on the rich is actually a tax on American jobs.... Google Ernst & Young's study that was released last July...It's talks about things like how GDP will be affected, probable job loss, long run capital stock and investment losses and it does so in plain English...Might just make you think twice about Obama's plan... |

Is it you? More importantly, the latest reports by the Congressional Budget Office clearly show that combining tax hikes for the wealthy while implementing spending cuts would indeed cut the deficit by $503 billion through next September, but it could also cause the economy to shrink by .5% in 2013 and cost America the loss of millions of jobs....Right now, the economy is not strong enough to risk one of these effects, let alone both....Everyone knows there are tons of special interest loopholes in our tax code that apply to both personal and corporate obligations...We also know there are plenty of deductions for both...Some of these deductions make sense; some do not....Cleaning up tax codes is an excellent place to start... As for the Bush tax cuts, I think they should ALL expire...EVENTUALLY!...As long as unemployment remains above healthy levels, increasing taxes on ANYONE is a mistake...Obama should preserve the tax breaks until unemployment falls below 6% and set a time for them to expire AFTER the economy becomes stronger....By placing the focus on the deficit rather than unemployment, the Obama administration is approaching the problem backwards....Our deficit is a "very big problem", continuing unemployment is a "crisis".....First things first....Put America back to work.... Also, for those entitlement happy stay at home moms and dads, latest news is Obama is letting Republicans know he is willing to compromise by calling for a reduction in federal programs for the poor and the elderly...Why am I not surprised... |

I wonder how many others will follow his example. They stood in the way of Obama for four years and paid the political price and refuse to change. Me thinks they will give it another go with a Trump/Palin ticket and then after another huge loss will consider doing what is best for the country. |

wish more Democrats came to their senses!
Goes double for here! |
