Topic: Political Parties and Their Philosophies | |

![]() These "statements of essence" are too simplistic. Both Dems and Reps believe in a more efficient Govt. So do Libs. They all just have different policy agendas. Better to go with the party platforms...or possibly outlaw all political parties altogether and force everyone to run purely as individuals. Now that would be interesting! ![]() I know they're too simplistic, but I was curious whether party faithfuls on both sides felt they were true as far as they went. It does seem to me that the parties have deep differences in what the role of government should be. To me, saying both want more efficient government doesn't get at the root of the difference. The Founding Fathers thought political parties were a horrible idea, but even they ran for office as representatives of the parties of their time. Washington was the only one who could be considered an exception. |

I wonder what our Founding Fathers would have to say about America now?

I wonder what our Founding Fathers would have to say about America now? I'm thinking they'd gather an army and throw off a tyrannical government. Just a guess though. |

Disclaimer: I will state it as absolute but there are no absolutes except that you will die one day.
Republicans want to force religion into government as it will supposedly make more people moral, which is untrue. Republicans are very worried about lazy poor people getting something they feel they are ineligible for, as they believe they are making them better people by stressing over it. Republicans, rich republicans, want less regulation so they can destroy the planet in search of their riches. Poor republicans believe the rich republicans know what they are talking about to their own detriment by being poisoned and forced into poverty. Republicans want to go back to the good ole white boy way of doing things in this country, they call it "Good ole American values". Basically racists values. They feel justified since the founders were white racists. Republicans do not even realize all that they benefit from the government in their roads and hospitals, etc... They never give credit to all that the government and people who work with the government do for the country. And this is different depending on how conservative or liberal the republican is. Which liberal republicans are far and few but they do exist and the would be the exceptions to this list. I know I am forgetting some here but that is the jest of it. Blue dog Democrats also believe almost the same as this list so it stretches across party lines. Moderate Dems like President Obama believe in a religion but not forcing it on others to "save" them or the country. They believe in the right to bear arms too to all of our detriment. Especially with too little regulation. They are proponents of business too but not without some regulations, usually not enough to save us from the poisons and other detrimental effect of business though. Etc... And then you have Liberal Dems Liberals believe in all people having the right to do what they want to do as long as they are not harming others. They believe in an innate human respect that is born to us all, this is not represented by Republicans. Life is of utmost importance to a liberal and quality of life is too. A liberal will truly give the shirt off of their back and not worry that you might be too lazy to receive it. Liberals pay their way in the community not in a way to control others but because they know for real that freedom is not free. I guess it goes along with the OP somewhat. |

It is liberalism, no matter what else you want to call it.
