Getting to Know Each Other


She cried in his arms
hoping his love
could heal the years
when life hated her

She told him
of all she endured
fatherless
overworked mother who tried with all her heart and soul
siblings needing her maternal love
and the sad fact
that he,
the young man she thought was her destiny,
her love,
her childhood sweetheart,
left her with a child of her own
at such a young age

Her chest rose with frustration
“It’s so hard getting to know someone . . . trusting them
believing in them after going through so much”
she continued to ramble
on and on
without fear of judgment
because she trusted his comfort
his kindness
his soul
though she did ask him why,
“Why not run; you don’t need this”
she cried harder

He lifted her chin
wiped her eyes,
and looked deep into them,
“Because the past creates us
and together, you and I will
create tomorrow”

She smiled and whispered, “Thank you”

Nah, just write what pops into my head though I have written a novel that I refuse to get published. I'm actually working on two more novels that I won't publish. Writing is well, fun. But thanks

Thanks Penny and Ainjel, it's always nice to hear compliments. My novels are fictional stories that I wrote to relax the work day away. I never dreamed of having them published. I wouldn't even know where to begin. If you have suggestions I'm open.
