Topic: Heads up, Yahoo worm | |
---|---|
Hey guys,
I experienced this myself just a couple of years ago. One of your contacts will message you on YIM, only the person messaging you is not your friend. The link i clicked, was preceded by "is this a picture of you?" followed by a link, which i clicked, and immediately, i had contacts asking me why i sent a link without saying hi. This is a worm, and it will partially take over your account. I have not confirmed this latest one "i recommend this site" with a link attached. I have received 3 of these in the last two days, from a trusted friend whom i haven't heard from in some time. I'm pretty sure she wouldn't simply drop me three links, two days in a row, without saying hi. Thankfully, i recognized it right away and did not click it. If you get an IM from someone, make sure the sender is in fact genuine, BEFORE you click the link. |

I learned the hard way (a while back) to double check before I click a link.

One time, I completely deleted everything in my Yahoo! contact list, after creating a Word document having all necessary e-mail addresses. The emptiness of my Yahoo! contact list put an end to any worm that got into it.

Thanks for the warning. I don't use IM anymore as it seems the only guys on it are creepy.

I avoid Yahoo. Haven't met anything worth the aggravation on that site so far. Lot of scammers.
