It’s Ok

The truth is
we were both probably
more tired than we cared to admit
sitting on the bed
listening to music
I’d play a song
and see if she remembered it
and then it was her turn

Really . . . this is what we did

Then I yawned
stretched
and shut the computer down
my eyes were getting heavy
she laughed at me
“Showing your age going to sleep before ten”
and she was right
but that’s ok

She turned her laptop off as well
and then turned the TV on
lowered the volume for me
“She loves me”
snuggled next to me
and then drifted off before I did

And that’s why it was ok
after all sometimes
doing something together
doesn’t mean
you have to actually do something
other than just be together
