Its lonely in CA, and I'm tired of people emailing me, who have no car or no job. It's like stop asking me to drive out there. Not to be rude. But have a job and a car, and some date money. Just saying'.

Wow thanks, when you're single, it gets old always being in the drivers seat. I want to sit on the passengers side, dammit!

Some of us know how to treat a woman Simone. You know if I was a bit younger I'd be happy to take you out and do the driving.

I hear ya, What reasons do they give as to why they have no job, car or date money? Or has those 'appealing' facts escaped their comprehension as to their desirability?spock

Two or three days a week I drive. Hell in your case I'd drive just to see you for a "friendly date". A real date?! I can't imagine expecting a woman to drive, especially when you first start dating.

In the beginning, I'd rather them meet me somewhere than come pick me up.

Yeah, I can understand that, and I've had first dates like that. That's why I put it the way I did "I can't imagine expecting a woman to drive". Any guys who expects to be picked up, which seem to be what Simone is saying has been happening, is a loser from the start as far as I'm concerned.

I don't see why this is a gender thing, though. Both men and women can drive. Thinking a woman needs to be driven around is just as silly as thinking a man needs to be driven around.

I live not too far from DC. Many people there don't have cars. I've made it clear that I won't date anyone without a car, because I am not going to drive someone around all the time. I would have no problem if a guy said the same thing.

Well yah, but they moved back because it was too expensive for them and I don't want to have my walls up passing other opportunities in the meantime. No hard feelings but 3000 miles is a lot for me to handle.

Yep, that is what I prefer as well. I do not mind driving to meet places either, but all the time. I had one guy act as though he had a car and was busy but always wanted me to drive out there. In the end he did not have a car or a job. He lived about a half hour away but still at our age you should be working. I do not live in new York where everyone takes a taxi. I live where everyone has a car so if you are not one of them then it will be too hard to take me out. Sometimes I just want to be a passenger. I chauffeur my kids around all week long. Sometimes I just want to hop in and say lets go!

Exactly, this one guy said he had a car and wanted to come see me, but then was saying his borrowed his car for work, blah blah blah, or it needed a part, he was waiting for it. I was suckered a couple times and then realized he was just a total idiot. This was a long time ago but still at my age, I don't have time for people who have not established some sort of responsibility in their lives. I take care of my family. They need to be able to at least take care of their self.

Oh come on, one person, who was extremely kind and giving but cost of living out here is a lot. I'm just saying nothing happened bad, I just realize LDR is not for me. I want to be hugged and go out of the house on dates. You can not do that on opposite coasts.
