District of Columbia Police Chief Cathy Lanier says there are conflicting reports about threatening comments a police officer may have made about First Lady Michelle Obama.

The Secret Service says it's investigating a report of such comments, allegedly made this week by a city officer who worked as a member of a motor escort for the White House.

Lanier told The Associated Press in an email Friday that "there are conflicting reports about what was said." She didn't immediately elaborate.

The Washington Post cited anonymous police officials in reporting the officer told colleagues he would shoot the first lady, and then showed a photo on his phone of the gun he would use.

D.C. police spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump has declined to discuss the comments beyond saying they're under investigation.

I know the majority of the police officers and Federal Agents here in the US do not support Obama and or even like him but this is not cool. I hope he loses his badge and is put in prison if this is true.

If you don't like the President or any elected official you take them out by the ballot box not violence.

IT wasnt a wise decision under those circumstances.

Those high clearance positions require a great deal of integrity and professionalism. IF even airport security goes through rigorous 'safety clearnce', I imagine anyone working closely with the first family must have rigorous conditions of employment as well.
