My soul
wears the shadows
of the moonlit stillness
as if this is
the safest place
to hide the scars

for time
to again take the moment
from my soul
so I never have to remember
what I can’t seem to forget

The color of rage
in your eyes
and the anger in your voice
the deafening sound
of your pain against
the innocence of my love for you

I cry
whispering
silent words
within the shadows

so much pain
so much hurt
so much love
and I don’t know why
I cannot walk away
