War with all it's toil and strife
War with all it's needless loss of life What's it that makes such fools of men To search out and kill their own kin The lust of few, their greed for gold Over and over the story's been told Men such fools, they maim and kill Just for the pockets of few to fill And when the wars over and peace declared Only a few of the brave are spared And God in heaven who all can see says to himself what fools men must be. My grandfather wrote this while a POW in WWII |
