Just to get back to one of the early on comments ....
I believe it was adj who brought up the that treasonous document, called the Patriot act. I think we should all be discussing candidates for the coming election. I think we should be considering who they are, their backgrounds and further, We REALLY need to find a way to get our real questions and concerns answered by those who seek the power that the highest offices of this country grant. Bush has been the light that has shown us just how much power an office can have. We need to better understand who we put there. What we should be finding out is this: How do they plan to right the wrongs and amend the errors that are left in the wake of this ending Presidency? Wrongs like the Patriot Act? Errors like the secrecy of an SPP consideration. It doesn't matter if we agree on a candidate - what matters is getting informed about them ALL. Ron Paul is but one. There are many who are seeking election. Through discussion we can all learn who these people are, we can add what we've discovered, and what their platforms are and maybe we can find a way to get our questions regarding our greatest concerns, answered by them. Can I get a yea or nay on beginning a thread to this affect? |

it doesn't really matter
most are going to say my vote don't count (the lazy who care cop out line) so they do not look into it others will say no matter who is available they will be the same so i am not going to vote (again the lazy who cares cop out line) so what ever is wrong with this country is as much the fault of these people as it is the people in power because they are to lazy to do anything about it if you let the 2 major parties go on uncontested by not voting rather than voting for a non major party you just voted for them LIKE IT OR NOT there is no such thing as not voting if you do not vote YOU are saying all is well so thank you non voters for the state of the nation |
|
|
|
you are absolutely right adj4u ....
|
|
|
|
i understand your point adj4u but i think it's way off base. the people that don't vote have no right to complain but you can't blame them for the state of the nation, that was all in the hands of the voters. i'm not planning on voting this upcoming election because i refuse to vote for "likely" candidates. so you'll probably say to vote for an independent then, i could do that but what if i don't like him either. it is a big responsibility to vote but i refuse to vote for leftovers that won a primary because a large majority of the ones that did vote did so being uninformed or were just downright manipulated by a speech.

i'm not deluding myself at all adj4u and if i don't vote i won't complain a bit but i'm tired of having nothing but ****ty politicians to vote for. no matter how you look at it i am no more to blame than you are.

|
|

hey breeze i understand your being upset
that is why you should go and vote if you like no one not even the others on the ballot you should write in micky mouse goofy spiderman or anyone sure they won't win but you are sending a message i wonder if everyone wrote in the same name what they would do but to do nothing is saying nothing is wrong so go vote off the major ticket or write someone in the state of the nation and the future of your children and grandchildren and their children is at stake |

thanks adj4u, i get what you are saying.

Speaking of that, adj4u, in the 1988 presidential election, Wile E. Coyote appeared on three Michigan ballots as a write-in candidate.

good if that happens enough
maybe "they will figure it out" |

I agree with DJ, if people who are unhappy with the current choices don't bother to at least show up to vote then those who are currently in power know that they can continue on their current course without worry because good people will do nothing.
In law class we were taught that the default for legalality is agreement. e.g. "those who do not demur are assumed to consent" So if you give no sign that you disagree you are not just being silent- you are seen as actually agreeing! |

well i hope they listen to you
you say it so much better |

(((((DJ)))))
RE: "well i hope they listen to you" I hope they listen to us both. The last presidential election left me crying my eyes out in a shopping mall parking lot (that's where the campaign office was). And it did depress me further to know that so many just didn't bother to show up at all... |

looks like not even payin attention now
oh well when it hits the wall we will know we tried at least (((((anoasis))))) |

"when it hits the wall we will know we tried at least" You never know who is actually paying attention- even if it's just one more person that bothers to vote I am happy.... -and if you get discouraged you can apparently turn into a marshmellow at will which is soooo cool!!!! |
