Mr Hutton's lawyers drafted a letter to Mr Palmer yesterday after the billionaire suggested he had made the accusations to distract negative attention from the Liberal National Party during the state election campaign. Mr Hutton, leader of the Lock the Gate alliance, which campaigns against mining on prime agricultural land, said Mr Palmer needed to be taught a lesson. "I'm not anxious for litigation, but I'm determined not to allow him to sully my reputation in this way," Mr Hutton said. "Politics is rough and ready, but there have to be boundaries." Mr Hutton said he could not afford to take on Mr Palmer, who once described litigation as his hobby, on his own.
