Not sure where I truly fall with this topic. Although I do have strong convictions on kids and people keeping hands to themselves.
When one has experience in the public/public school systems and understands you cant be a judge and jury all day long on what was appropriate and what was not you tend to need a blanket rule. I have shadowed my kids off and on throughout all their years of school. Particularly in high school. Let me just add this right now. Kids are so out of control, and its hard to start playing the blame game. I dont feel its the teachers or schools place to parent anyone's kids. I think when it comes to having to make laws on rediculous situations such as these it amounts to the parenting or lack of that has forced these outrageous cases to be heard. I seen with my own eyes, w/police on campus policing, teens are around a corner 50 feet away all but having sex.. I stopped teens from inappropriate behavior everyday I been there, it is ongoing, I can understand frustration, and how this can come to a point of "get ahold of your kids" or we will in a way you wont like, type of situation. MY Opinion, its always a fine line(touching) and boundries should be taught at home. Laws and rules change all the time, it is just the way of the world and adaption.. Our kids need us involved at school, I dont believe home-schooling is the answer.. hiding from it wont make it disappear. *peace* |

Good read 66. Yes parents should be more involved...wisely. But the truth of the matter is: Many kids are taught by the boob tube, the kids at school, on the streets. The homes of so many kids is as outrageous as a riot.
Legal eagles have gotten so rich and stupid from all this law suits and mumbo jumbo crap. And we just let it grow bigger and bigger by buying into it all. And being a part of it. Schools are doing what they feel right to stop an event before it gets out of hand. Why?? Because it is the way of this world now days. Rape, school shootings, murder, gang activity. It's a dam if you do; dam if you don't society. Who's got the answer?? Kat |

Im not so sure there is will be a final answer to this never ending condition. Its a big vicious circle with everyone pointing a finger at the other claiming "you" are at fault. And still I believe anyone that is a parent has the ultimate reason to work on this solution. Also, one final note to my last post.. It is made clear vocally by me to my teens, throughout their school years, noone is to touch them and vice versa. As teens my daughter has questioned me on it over and over.. why not even hug our friends? me: ITS INAPPROPRIATE! Furthermore its against school policy. She says: even my friends that are girls?? Ok she is now boundry pushing. Now you see how that works???? Fine lines.. NO IS NO.. nothing is ok.. no touching! Go to school and learn. Act appropriately and respectfully. *peace* |

why isn't touching okay? school is also a social environment...hugging a friend is much different than locking lips or groping...
i WANT my children to never think that touch isn't okay. human beings NEED touch... |

well it comes down to the break down of the family unit
as i said in other threads the best way to take control of an area is to break up personal loyalties it stated with telling the kids tell if you get punished sure no one wants kids abused but there is a line if the kid knows they can do what ever and nothing really happens then why not do it then if they get punished they say i'm calling and getting you in trouble (i had this happen told them get a change of close but in bag when they get here yer going to leave with them fortunatly it never came to that) but a lot of parents would not play that game until the people get involved with each other and with there kids it is only going to get worse after all what is your kids favorite activity and when was the last time you hugged your kid sexual pred is a bit much but things do need to change the parents need to take back the responsibility of parenting but it is not easy but aren't the kids worth it |

people are too paranoid. this sounds like when that elementary school student was taken to prison for bringing a nail file to school after columbine, because it was a "weapon". the day can i hurt someone with a nail file is the day that slapping someone's ass becomes a jailable offense. oh yeah... that's right...
i can see sexual harassment charges being the WORST case scenario punishment, and that's if it happens on a regular basis. doesn't sexual predator status mean really f'd up stuff like intentional kidnapping, stalking, rape, and/or murder? do these young kids who don't know any better deserve to be thrown into that category? what about james bond? he slaps women's asses all the time. is he a sexual predator? |
