Yep, people say I look younger than 43, but people say all sorts of things to to try and make you like them. So really I have no idea what to say and just laugh.

I have always had the baby-face. It probably explains why I still get carded.

I prefer people to be trueful about their age because it just seems stupid to me not to be. Basic honesty is kind of required for me. not going to hold it against them one way or the other so no reason not to be honest. I would think anyone who would would be a good person to avoid..
As a teen I was 12 turned 21 so work or getting carded was never and issue. I owned and operated businessis , had a family, in my early 20;s so always thought of myself as legal and that is pretty much what matters. In business it is if you get results. I do find it uncomfortable when people see a photo and think I am younger than I am. LOl I guess I should put up some "bad" photos but as it is I don't wear make up and you can definitely see my grey hair so maybe I am not the only one that doesn't see so good. lol . Maybe it is long hair that makes for youth. Fair wanrining Krupa I would kill for yourgolden locks so never play Cowboys and Indians with me or I might take a scalp. Hahahaha |

I didn't see anything in this thread about being dishonest about age. At least I don't think so. |

I didn't see anything in this thread about being dishonest about age. At least I don't think so. think it was more about how people precieve age and if you look young or older than your age how people respond to you. OP looks young so I would guess at times he is percieved as young or maybe inexperienced or what do young people usually get pegged as lacking maturity in talent or skills ? Now with the opportunities that exist would be lame. But ageism does seem to cut both ways. |

But that's not about the person being dishonest about their age. It's about other people thinking they're older or younger.

Looking younger does not make you dishonest. I have never lied about my age. I am always asked if do and my reply is why would I lie about being older?
If on the other hand I said I was 45 that would be dishonest. We do not control how others see us or what they think. |

Got carded at an Arizona State bar when I was 39 and my new friends that I met after I moved there, couldn't believe I had a 17 year old daughter.. It still happens and I'm almost out of my 60's.... I got a big, fluffy animal of unidentifiable species at a state fair when the guy guessed me for being 5 years younger at 18. I gave my date the bear or whatever it was. Now I get seniors tickets on the railways without asking. And people put a two-dollar coin in my hand, without my asking. It is quite embarrassing, actually, when I'm on a date. The girls always think that it's a gesture to mean, "here, buddy, buy yourself a better hooker." |

I think your response is the right one. I usually get jeers when I ask, "is that real, or you had a nose job? you are beautiful!!" or when I say "beautiful, you gorgeousness, please wear a broche next time so I know which is your talkative side." This I don't think is a problem you face, Josie. I think people are able to tell your feminine curves from other planets, via their telescopes. |

I have always had the baby-face. It probably explains why I still get carded. All the traffic cops used to think I was gorgeous, those gay bstrrds. I used to get carded each and every time I did a rolling stop, or went through a red light, or honked near a cemetery. (I'll never figure out how on earth it can be bad, hurtful, or immoral.) |

If you want to see a man squirm, do this: Put your very heavy date to the man who can guess your weight at fairs. Guaranteed win of a plush toy. |

People think I'm much younger than I am. I teach high school and get mistaken for being a student; I'm used to it, but I don't necessarily like it. Mostly because it leads them to think I am inexperienced in my work. I really hate having my competence questioned.
I also agree with a previous post siting 'state of mind' as being a mitigating factor in presenting as youthful. I grew up in a family where people look 15 - 20 years younger than they actually are. I attribute this to the vigour at which they approach life. As a result, I have difficulty guessing other people's ages. I have gotten in some trouble guessing the age of someone else, on the high side, when I thought I was guessing on the low side... Tricky, tricky. In the end, I don't think age really matters: it's not the years of living, but the living in your years that matter. |

Have you ever had instances where someone told you they thought you looked younger or older than you actually are? How'd you feel about it? All the time. I've even had people argue with me about my age. I've had a doctor do a double-take when he walked into my exam room because he was expecting me to look so much older. Doctors keep telling me that I'm going to live to be 100. Lately, I've stopped even wanting them to be right. 84 will do just fine. Of course I may feel differently when I reach that age. But I don't think I'm going to have a choice. |

When I was 32, I completed a questionnaire at a party that an ambulance driver was handing out. It asked questions, and each answer was given different points; at the end you added your points, and it told you at what age you were supposed to die. The questions were of this sort: How old are you? Never married, or married? Kids? How much do you smoke? How much do you drink? How much bacon you eat? Are you overweight, and if yes, by how much? etc. I truthfully filled it out and the end result told me I was supposed to die at 33 years and six months. So at that point it gave me 18 more months to live. The result? Gave up smoking, overeating, started to exercise? Heck, no. I started to smoke more, go out with more women, who were even more wanton than the ones in the past had been, ate bacon and eggs as if there were no tomorrow, sped up my average driving speed (I remember I customarily drove at 160 Km/h (at about 100 mi an hour) on the highways, and at 80 Km/h (50 mi/h) on city streets late at night-- it was great, caught all the greens on a long stretch), and got more stressful jobs with lots more responsibilities, but I still stayed away from drugs and alcohol. Not coz I was afraid of them, or because I thought they would be destrcutive, but because they did not taste right and because I hated their effects. True. So before my 34th birthday I started to live on borrowed time. I'm 58 now. My mom died of an aneurism when she was 52. That was a tough mark to pass. I hope to die someday. If I don't, I'm going to get awfully mad, coz all my life my biggest goal has been to stop living. I hate my life, and I am forced to continue. This is not good. Not good at all. |

People almost always think I look younger than I am. I have no problem with that. If being called younger,no one USUALLY hv problem. In fact; especially ladies, loves that act very much Many douche bags use these kinda simple technics to fool them. |
