All I ever know is that they walk among us. Could be ANYone. My dad is one. Other than him I couldn't identify anyone in my life specifically as a psychopath or sociopath. But I think you'd have to know someone pretty well to identify them as such. |

But I think you'd have to know someone pretty well to identify them as such. Not really. But you would have to have spent some time with them I think. Casual meeting or casual acquaintance probably not. I went with a guy for several years and knew there was something very strange about him, and it felt like he had no real feelings or conscience. He was curious about why and how people had feelings. He was always unethical. After I got to know him well, it actually crossed my mind that he could murder someone without remorse. I don't think he ever did. He did know right from wrong, he just chose not to be violent. Maybe he was afraid of getting caught. I often thought that he could turn violent and even turn into a murderer out of shear curiosity. I wonder about him occasionally. |

It takes awhile to identify one..after all, who is actually looking for your next-door neighbor, new love interest or any one else to be a psychopath or a sociopath? Although when you look back, you say.."How could I have missed that? " |

There was a show on television -(it was a movie)- about a man who was a serial killer and would pick up prostitutes and take them to his place and strangle them. He had just picked one up and before he could do the deed he was hit by a car. He survived the accident but his head was injured and he forgot who he was and what he had been doing. The prostitute that he had been with became his girlfriend and they eventually fell in love and got married. Then the police finally found him and realized he had been a killer. But now he was a changed person with no memory of the crimes. So it could be something in the brain was altered. I agree, Jeanniebean. Scientists and researchers should watch more fiction movies and glean insights into human behaviour that the movies suggests. In fact, the Russian Bolshevik Revolution was started because someone had taken a joke for real, and the meteorite killed most of the dynosaurs because of a movie in 1952, which was the first to shoot the actual event and play it in movie houses. Movies are usually inspired by real events... only the names have changed and a little sex is thrown in for fun to make it interesting. See? I've been telling everyone all along that Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers was inspired by real events. |
