Mind Games

Unfettered darkness
and complicated chaos
my right hand is confused-
it arrived at the same place
at the same time
with the same intentions
and yet has no idea
what my left hand is doing

Political policies adrift
mindless directions
and the simple answers
for the varying cultures
equates to a starving social agenda
because no one will ask the question
when . . .
will it change?
will it get better?
will poverty end?
will what’s right mean more than political power?
will we all have equal rights?

Just one question
that’s all that’s needed
just one question
and yet
the approximate wait time
is my life
as filtered secrets
spread like propaganda
until everyone knows
that no one knows
half the truth
we simply follow along
like the ducklings
surviving for just this moment
and hoping
for the next
