did you know that the highly revered 'founding fathers' consisted of men who both USED DRUGS and HAD AFFAIRS,,,,,?
why do you suppose our political landscape is so distracted with these issues today when it comes to judging our modern politicians? what changed that we could revere drug users and adulteresses, and still do if they were 'founding fathers', but our current politicians we run through the mud for the same things? why is it any worse to destroy a life two months outside the womb than it is two months inside the womb? why is same sex marriage being pushed so much harder than civil unions? if the issue is civil rights,,,,? we change everday , every moment, and so does our world change is not whats confusing, inconsistency is,,,, |

Here is a link to some medical drug ads featuring alcohol, heroin, opium and cocaine from the 20's and 30's http://www.pharmacytechs.net/blog/old-school-medicine-ads. Up until recent times illicit drugs were thought to have valuable properties for improving health. I don't know how womanizing was looked upon in the days of Washington, Jefferson and Franklin so for them to be revered today is probably because it was not taught that it was wrong. I remember my history teacher talking about briefly in high school, but its wasn't remarked upon as being outrageous. With todays candidates, particularly the family values republicans and some democrats is they do as they do and not as they say. |

In 1856, South Carolina Representative Preston Brooks nearly killed Sumner on the Senate floor for ridiculing slaveowners as pimps in his vitriolic denunciation of the "Crime against Kansas." After three years of medical treatment Sumner returned to the Senate as the war began. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Sumner |

There was no mass media at that time to exploit such things. If anything, having affairs was less accepted then than now, although honestly I doubt there was that much difference. It's just that far fewer people knew what the people in power were doing in their daily lives.
Anybody who is surprised that the founding fathers were ordinary human beings needs to read a little history. Anybody who thinks that things like negative campaign ads are a new development needs to read a little history. "Ma, ma, where's my pa? Going to the White House, ha ha ha!" And they compared Lincoln to an ape. |

I dont really care honestly. Humans from an evolutionary stand point are identical today to then.
What I want is liberty and justice for all. No victim, no crime. Low taxes, and no government interference for persons, and low interference for business. |
