Do you have one? If yours was free would you do it more?
I used to scrapbook which can actually run a huge dent in the wallet if you seriously get into it. But, it took up more space in the house than dollars in the wallet. I don't have room for it anymore. I did scuba diving for a few years. That was expensive!! Especially the medical bills when I ended up in a decompression chamber. This list could go on....but what are yours? |

as a hobby, drag racing is expensive and most times, no payback. after spending thousands of dollars, you could win a trophy and bragging rights

Photography. I want a new lens, but it's expensive.
Traveling. I'd do much more of it if it didn't cost so much! |

I enjoy playing guitar and singing, always have. I'd do it for free if I didn't need money to feed my huge cat. I'm looking into some online courses in brain surgery as well. There's enough medical shows on tv where I feel pretty comfortable trying it on my own but the Anesthesia costs are ridiculous these days!

My stained glass has been put on a back burner for a while because of the expense. I really do not need more glass, but the solder and lead is what gets expensive. Plus where I am living now, I have not set up a place to work.

Used to collect maps. Then antique maps. Some of my maps were up to $800, and that's in the mid-nineties. In Goodwill stores I found a map that was worth $1600. Twice!! I am not joking. One in Toronto, one in London, Ontario. The same map. They were modern imitations of an old world map by Hondius (map maker, Dutch, early 1500). They were big, nicely framed, printed on gold leaf.
I gave most of my collection away. To my brother, my sister, some landlords got the gold maps for free. NOT for rent. For me money is not a big deal, coz I get it for free. I don't have to work for it. But these years I move often, and I am getting rid of stuff at a fast rate. My ideal is to work down my entire volume of belongins to two shopping bags, so it's easier to move. I move coz my abrasive nature takes the better of me and I irritate others very bigly. My other expensive habit was to date hookers. I got into the habit in my thirties, and got rid of it at 45 yoa, when I dated a lovely woman. She was the apple of my eye, and she loved me so much and I loved her so much that I forewent the prostitutes. All of a sudden the hookers seemed... i don't know, unclean? I haven't touched a hooker or a woman since that gf... she broke off with me in 1999, and we still love each other. why she broke off? She felt I was not interested in her sexually. There were other problems, like the fact I talk too much and I wore her out very quickly. She also felt I was not pulling my weight in the relationship, in more than one way. She split with me because she wanted more than dating. I don't know. She split with me coz she realized I am not fully a man. I don't mean sexually. I mean maturitily. She never told me why she split with me. I am pretty sure I am right, though, in my thoughts about it. So the most expensive habit I've ever had, one that cost me my right arm, (so to speak -- not my real right arm) is, actually, my love for that woman. |

Hmm, have a few hobbies that cost money like theatrical make up, making costumes, and of course music (buying musical instruments).

Yeah, that skirt didn't take much material and honesly didn't think I could still pull off wearing such short dress at my age. |

I enoy handwork such as quilting and stained glass. I love music and travel as well. A good hobby does not make you broke. You work it in to your life style so you can enjoy a part of it every day.
