I just flat out and out tell them it is going nowhere and I won't be dating her anymore. I assume no intimacy has occurred? would that matter? If no intimacy had occurred or it hadn't? Yes it would matter a lot (to me and probably to her). would that matter in how you handle the break up? Would you be less cut & dried had you been intimate? I think I would be - I think it's harder to let go... That is why you need to be careful who you are intimate with. I don't want to "use" anybody so if we were not working out I would have to gently break it to her. And re-examine my motives as to why we were intimate in the first place. that is a good point- I have these silly beliefs that I just have fabricated as my own little life truths and one of them is that I believe that we are responsible to & for the men/women we are intimate with -so it should not be taken lightly again why the break ups are more difficult - my last intimate partner and I took nearly a year to break up....and that;s why it's taking so long to try again I don;t want to go thru any more break ups - I don;t think I can and if it is taken lightly we are responsible for those people anyway |

While I don't believe that explanation is ever really listened to; especialy when it comes to a break up rather than just a mutual casual parting of the ways or just loosing interest I do believe in notification; and usually face to face in a semi private place.
Since more often than not it is me saying "Thank you for your time but this relationship is not working so I am saying good bye and my decision is final. At that point if there have been any kind of exchange of possessions I usually give them theirs right there and then and have already collected mine. However when it is over it is O-V-E-R and I keep my mouth shut about it |
