I have been thinking about what I want to plant this Spring and the daffodil came to mind. Actually, it came to mind this morning out of the blue and after researching it, I decided I would plant some this year. I do not have a green thumb so this will an experiment.

Symbolizing rebirth and new beginnings, the daffodil is virtually synonymous with spring. Though their botanic name is narcissus, daffodils are sometimes called jonquils, and in England, because of their long association with Lent, they’re known as the “Lent Lily.” Lore connecting the daffodil to not only a sign of winter’s end but a lucky emblem of future prosperity is found throughout the world. In Wales, it’s said if you spot the first daffodil of the season, your next 12 months will be filled with wealth, and Chinese legend has it that if a daffodil bulb is forced to bloom during the New Year, it will bring good luck to your home.
The March birth flower and the 10th wedding anniversary flower, a gift of daffodils is said to ensure happiness. But always remember to present daffodils in a bunch – the same legends that associate this cheerful flower with good fortune warn us that when given as a single bloom, a daffodil can foretell misfortune. The name daffodil is a derivitave of affodell, which is a variant of asphodel. The Latin name for the daffodil is narcissus. Narcissus are also referred to as jonquils in North America. The March birth flower is poisonous if eaten. The daffodil is the emblem of Wales and is worn on St David's Day. For spring flowers the daffodil is one of the best bulbs to plant. As the daffodil is one of the first flowers of spring, it has the flower meaning of hope. Daffodil commonly refers to narcissus with large trumpets, but may be used for all types of narcissus. The March birth flower daffodil that is commonly known, is yellow with a sweet frangrance. It is native to the mediterranean, but has been cultivated all over the world as a decorative plant. The daffodil is a perennial grown from a bulb. It can reach heights of two feet. The daffodil is a dependable spring flower and a favorite for its long life and colorful blooms. In England the daffodil birth flower is known as the lent lily because it blooms during lent. Daffodils are ruled by Venus. The part of the plant that is normally used in magick is the flowers - either fresh or dried. •Sprinkle dried petals or place fresh flowers on an altar to attract friendly sprits. •Keep in the house or garden to cheer you up. •Add to bathwater to increase your luck and bring new people into your life. •Mix with rose petals and place around a photo of a lover you want to return to you. |

Black tourmaline is the best stone I have found for protection. I started using it at work about 6 months ago and I can't believe how much it helped. I also have a bracelet made from it.

Black Tourmaline crystal is a powerful stone for protection against negative energy of all kinds... as well as being a strong spiritual grounding stone. This is one of the most popular crystals to be used for metaphysical purposes.
Many people, and I am amongst this group... believe this is the best protection stone that you can use. It is powerful for healing and for psychic protection and spiritual purposes... and will strengthen the immune system and help allergies. It encourages positive attitudes, good luck and happiness, regardless of the circumstances that you find yourself in. They are wonderful aids to both the professional healer and the average person who wants a stone that will be a positive force for good in your life... as it creates a positive attitude and mindset. http://www.healing-crystals-for-you.com/black-tourmaline.html |

The girl I work in the same office with is a wonderful person and very good at what she does. She genuinely cares about me and I about her. However, she is one of those people who is very angry about a lot of things and she is usually agitated about something. This was very hard on me for a long time.
Last year I hung a piece of tourmaline on a string and hung it at my desk. Now, while she still gets worked up about things, she laughs more and is just much easier to talk to and share office space with. |

I decided about 6 months ago to start making more of my own supplies. Although I love the oils at luckymojo.com and may stick with them because they are just that good. Even though the woman who own the business is a loon. She does know her Hoodoo.
So, I think I will start with the candle making. Since the candle is the most important part of any working. And, if I made the candle myself, I could add the herbs and oils into it for the specific purpose. I think this would be really great. DaveyB here on Mingle lives just an hour from me and he makes candles so he is going to help me get started. I'm really excited about it. |

That huge moon was still hanging in the sky this morning for the drive to work.

I need to pick up some Epiphany Chalk from church on Saturday. And, I need to head down to Panpipes in Hollywood for some oils.
Epiphany Chalk is used to write an inscription over the door of one's house. It is blessed by the priest on the feast of Epiphany. Taken from the Roman Ritual, these are the words of the blessing: O Lord God, Bless this chalk which Thou hast created, that it may be helpful to mankind, and grant that, through the invocation of Thy most Holy Name, all those who use this chalk or with it write over the doors of their houses the names of Thy saints, Gaspar, Melchior and Balthazar, may by their merits and intercession receive health of body and protection of soul. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen On any day within the Octave of the Epiphany, the father, or senior member of the family, writes the following inscription with the blessed chalk above the door of the house: 20 + G + M + B + 12 The following prayer may be recited: Hear us O Lord, Father Almighty, Eternal God, and send Thy Holy Angel from Heaven to watch over, cherish, protect, be with, and defend all who live in this house. I call upon Thy holy saints, Gaspar, Melchior and Balthazar, to protect my family and my home from every harm and danger, and I place the marks of their holy names over the door of my home to remain there as a constant reminder to us and to all who enter here that my house is truly a house of the Lord. O God, make the door of my house wide enough to receive all who need human love and companionship, narrow enough to shut out all envy, pride and strife. Make its threshold smooth enough to be no stumbling block to children nor to straying feet, but rugged and strong enough to turn back the tempter's power. O God, make the door of my house the gateway to Thy eternal Kingdom. I ask these things in the Name of Jesus Christ Thy Son. Amen |

I was reading through this thread last night and it's amazing to me how much we've all discussed. Most of the regulars in this thread have deactivated, but JB and Jill are still here. I learned so much from interacting there.
http://mingle2.com/topic/show/179786 There's a lot of good info there, too. I'm gonna try and bring some of it back to post here before it's lost forever. |

I got my chalk yesterday at church.
I need to go to the beach today and since I'm out I might as well pick up some supplies at Panpipes. |

So, that's how they won last night! Well, it's not different than Tebow praying to Jesus. |

When it comes to crystals, which is better: tumbled or natural?
|
|
|
|
Holy crap! There's someone in my thread!
For magick it doesn't matter. The energy of the stone would be the same. It would only matter for a couple of reasons. If you were gonna be carrying it in your pocket (or bra, which is where I put mine) tumbled would be better. However, the natural ones, I think, tend to be a little prettier and I get them that way for the larger ones I put on display. |
