Topic: I Hate TV | |

It does not seem to be worth the bang in buck. I pay around 60 bucks a month for something I do not watch.
I used to be able to find some good stuff on the History channel or discovery channel but now all I find are these weird man dramas. Ax men Swamp people, American Pickers, pawn stars, etc etc. Im thinking what else could I do with sixty bucks a month? Go out to dinner two times more a month? Fill up the gas tank? Save it for a vacation? is it just me or is TV far worse than it was just five years ago? |

I haven't had cable for over 3 years now. I get a few channels with an antenna. It works for me. I do miss ESPN though.

I spend more time on the computer than I do in front of TV cant beat the instant weather report, breaking news and more in depth coverage.
My loathing is far worse for what the History Channel has degraded too. Swamp people? I tried watching it. What I saw were the top teir swamp folk those who can manage to survive and do somewhat well as aligator killers and sellers. I want to see uncle stumpie who lives on possum lost his right hand to a gator and has no insurence or healthcare. |

I know whatcha mean. I love movies and there are occasionally some good ones as well as an occasional program I enjoy. 60 bucks worth probably not. Im considering buying an expensive digital tv and not use cable anymore. Dont know that I can afford a chunk o change to do that tho and I dont get any tv like news/weather at all without it. I wish radio could do it bit the pickins there are slim too. Life in the boonies. I think my days as a cable subscriber ae numbered. |

I haven't watched TV in 10 years. The sole exception is Survivor. I wouldn't mind watching some sports on weekends, but where I used to live I would have had to buy satellite, then shovel the snow off the disc, and that didn't seem too appealing. When I moved here to Utah I didn't even bring my TV.
If the cable channels ever wised up and allowed alacarte deals, I might reconsider. I miss Animal Planet, ESPN, Nick at Nite, and Comedy Central. But I'd probably find that the cool shows I remember are gone. |

I also shopped around for cheaper cell phone service. Got with Cellular at 20.00 a month for 100 text msg. and 100 minutes of phone time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I used to pay 40.00 a month! That's over 400.00 a year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just sayin...what a RIP! |

I haven't had cable in years and I've survived. I wouldn't watch the brainwash box anyway if I had it. There are a few tv shows I like so I just stream them over the internet, no commercials mind you. Sure you get five gazillion channels on tv, but only one of those, only at a specific time of any given day, will have a show that doesn't make your brain ooze out your ears.

I like Satellite, there's far more on there than just reality shows(of course if that's all you're looking for that's all you'll find)...I like movies so channels like Turner Classic Movies, MGM, Epix Drive-In, etc. are great.... And with DVR I haven't watched a commercial in ages. And they play movies that aren't available on Netflix or Blockbuster.

We have the basic TV shows at home. I watch maybe 4 shows on TV. I'm so dang tired of the commercials. I do love Netflix, even as DVD's through the mail. I end up Netflixing everything, and catch up that way. No commercials rock!!
No way I'd waste money on cable. |

I don't have any TV service at all, ever since the analog signal was done away with almost 3 years ago. No cable, no dish, no antenna. I don't miss it. I just use my TV for watching DVDs.
