Topic: Rookie Cookies | |
---|---|
Never made cookies before. Or baked anything for that matter. Well I love chocolate chip cookies and thought I might try making some - in the spirit of the season. Anybody got any advice or recipes for a rookie? I'm not a total doofus in the kitchen if that's relevant.
And oh yea, I tend to drink when I cook. |

If you have a package of chocolate chips, look on the back. There's usually a recipe for cookies and it's pretty simple to follow.

Ok then, I have my strategy. Pick up the CC's first when I'm in the store. Then read the bag and go get everything else. Just hope I don't forget my reading glasses. Thanks, purple.

It sounds like you want to make cookies but are not really in to cooking. Get some Pillsbury slice and bake from the store and make a batch.
If you really want to make the best cookies you can ... try something like this. Chocolate Gobs chunk cookies Ingredients 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened 1/3 cup butter-flavored shortening 1 cup granulated sugar 2/3 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar 2 large eggs $ 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 2 cups all-purpose flour 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 teaspoon salt 2 cups cream-filled chocolate sandwich cookies, coarsely chopped (16 cookies) 3 (1.75-oz.) Mounds bars, chilled and chopped 1 to 2 cups semisweet chocolate morsels Preparation Beat butter and shortening at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy; gradually add sugars, beating until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla, beating until blended. Combine flour and next 3 ingredients; gradually add to butter mixture, beating until blended. Stir in cookies, candy bars, and desired amount of chocolate morsels. Chill dough 30 minutes. Drop dough by 1/4 cupfuls 2" apart onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper. Bake at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes or until barely set. Cool on baking sheets 10 minutes. Transfer to wire racks to cool completely. Oxmoor House |

EASY Peanut Butter Cookies
If you are not allergic to peanuts here is the easiest cookie recipe I have ever baked: (3 ingredients) 1 c. peanutbutter 1 c. sugar 1 egg (The sugar can be reduced to about 3/4 c. sugar.) Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. In a small bowl mix peanut butter with sugar til totally blended. Stir in the egg is evenly blended in and batter is a little bit stiff. With a medium spoon scoop up enough batter to make a ball about a quarter in diameter. Place as many balls on cookie sheet or pan leaving about an inch of space between each. Take the back of a fork and press the balls to flatten them criss crossing the ridges you make. (#) Bake 8-10 mins each batch or until you can see them just turning brown around the edges. Makes about 2 dozen. Enjoy!, CeriseRose |

I made chilli and chocolate flavoured cookies about three weeks ago. My cookies are always softer than ones you buy in a supermarket.

Cookie update:
I used the recipe on the bag as purple suggested. Wasn't too hard. First batch came out perfect. Then when I was messing with the timer, I cut the oven off by mistake. I then overcompensated and ended up burning batch 2. It probably didn't help that I was downing beers the whole time. But hey, the festive holiday spirit was alive. By the way, if you like a nice, really hoppy ale, try Loose Cannon from Clipper City Brewing. It's part of their Heavy Seas line of beers. It is outstanding. So I got ticked off at the burnt ones and quit. I pulled out the remaining batter about a week later and tried again. Baked another sheet and a 1/2 and they were great. I mixed everything by hand. I'm thinking that a mixer would make the process a good bit easier. The oven timer is also a good idea. Just be careful if you're drinking like I was. Bottom line? This ain't too hard. Go for it guys. Your girls will be shocked, amazed and impressed. |

I remember making that 3 ingredient peanut butter cookie recipe when I was very young and first allowed to use the oven.
It's very tasty. |
