Topic: Two Charged With Beating A Homeless Man | |
---|---|
Honestly I am sick of how the Left always wants to cut criminals a break, give lighter sentances, Agreed. dont want to hurt the criminals feelings etc. I see and deal with it on a daily basis and it is BS and encourages this type of behavior.
It does, but going too far in the other direction (cutting off a theifs hand?) would not be good either. I never said to cut the guys hands off. I am all for punishment within the law though and charging someone with every possible crime you have evidence of, not just one or two little crimes because you dont want to do as much paperwork or piss off some activist. THEN pleading them down to avoid trial to an even LESSER charge or drop multiple charges if they plead to one. That just encourages bad behavior. People realize they always get off with a slap on the wrist so they keep on doing it. They stole this guys bike, if not Robbery why is there not a theft related charge? Why wasn;t the 17 charged as an adult? Why did he only get one charge of conspiracy? Why did the other guy only get two charges? This was premeditated by BOTH people and the person on camera encouraged the action and at NO point tried to stop or get help. |

its sad that people can dehumanize others to this level,,,,its an issue of morals/values not politics,,, No, it's an issue of politics as well. When you get a good Law Enforcement official who is tough on crime like Sheriff Joe Arpio the left will blast him for being racist, inhumane, being insensative to the poor criminals feelings etc. It's stupid. its not an issue of politics, this had nothing to do with what race someone is, this was just vicious sometimes race does play a part, which makes it political, this isnt one of those cases I wonder if you guys are using the word 'politics' in different ways. I see this as issue with political aspects, and aspects that transcend politics. No it has to do with politics. In almost every jurisdiction the District Attorney and the Sheriff, Police Chief or Constable is an elected position so they have to play politics in every case. |

Not to mention if he wern't a homeless man and were someone with a lot of money, power or celebrity the two kids would have the book thrown at them but because he is someone the cops look at as just a bum it doesn't matter, let them off easy.

I never said to cut the guys hands off. I know you didn't, and I didn't mean to imply otherwise. I was just saying that I agree with you that in most cases that I know of, the pendulum is too far in the direction of leniency IMO, but that I'm also wary of it swinging too far in the other direction. I am all for punishment within the law though Part of my (tangential) point was that when a society takes the 'tough on crime' approach too far, and doesn't have enough concern for human rights, they do end up with messed up laws, such as it being legal to cut off a person hands. Which is admittedly off topic, and not directly related to what you were saying. Carry on. THEN pleading them down to avoid trial to an even LESSER charge or drop multiple charges if they plead to one. That just encourages bad behavior. People realize they always get off with a slap on the wrist so they keep on doing it.
Yes. Its true. Why wasn;t the 17 charged as an adult? Seriously. |

Yes. Its true. Why wasn;t the 17 charged as an adult? Seriously. I guarantee if the victim was ANYONE other then a less fortunate homeless man these two puks would have had it worse, not much but definately worse. |

Technically this could be counted as a hate crime and they could handle this Federally and they should. |
