In 1990, Burton hired Jonathan Gems to write a sequel titled Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian.

In June 2010, Michael Keaton announced his interest in returning for a Beetlejuice sequel. On September 8, 2011 it was reported by IGN that Seth Grahame-Smith, author of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, is currently working on a new Beetlejuice movie. On October 27, 2011, Smith revealed more information about the project, stating that the film is a sequel to Beetlejuice that takes place 26 years after the original film. Currently, they have Tim Burton on board (although his capacity is currently unknown) and hope to get Michael Keaton back for the sequel, but that they haven't approached him yet because the script is still being written. It is unknown if any other cast members from the previous film will return.

That would be awesome if this is true! I would love to see a sequel ndw been waiting for years! I would love to see Keaton and Jeffery Jones(even though he is a registered sex offender who has violated his conditions on a couple of occasions).

Sequels made 20 years too late are usually disappointing, and often are a sign of desperation, either because of money or a lack of fresh ideas.

I really can't see a sequel to Beetlejuice going over well. However, it would be great if they managed to beat the odds.

If Burton directs and Keaton comes back as Beetlejuice I think it would be great.

I think if Keaton was dressed as Beetlejuice driving the Batmobile it would make some people laugh. Maybe not everybody though.

I just dont see how they can continue it. Some of the cast is dead, Jeffery Jones is a convicted pedophile, Winona is an old klepto.........
