Dancing in the shadows of the early morning light
Wishing for someone to hold and draw so tight Glancing through the pages of a melancholy mind Knowing time can stand still as you look closely at what's behind Time just keeps on galloping to a whimsical beat Oh I have my moments when I want to just retreat Lie dormant in the moment instead of looking to and fro Waiting on a dream to come but caught in a familiar undertow Stardust in one's eyes as the morning dew does settle Feeling a whistling urge like the boiling of the kettle The steamy words come frolicking off of a boiling tongue Anger for a child's dream is tossed aside, no victory won A father lost in alcohol spewing excuses like a spinning wheel A mother on a soapbox as a childhood he does steal With selfishness and righteous banter he approaches in such jest Clueless on the web that's spun and yet he fails the test Morning quickly approaches and to sleep she then succumbs Knowing it makes no difference as the beat plays on the familie's drums The trail of tears passed down through generations so she wails The trail of tears for alcoholics in denial and then he bails A mother and child tucked tightly into bed Dreaming of a difference made by all the words unsaid Integrity and faith win out as the kettle cools again A family lost in a vapor and found in an "I remember when" SDF 12/2/11 |
