I makes me laugh, makes me cry
Makes me stop to wonder why
Wonder why life isn't fair
With beauty present everywhere

Is it me, I have no clue
What is it that I must do
To make a change in just today
To show myself in some small way

Is there something I can do
To maybe bring a smile to you?
I'd give my all for just a chance
To maybe capture some small glance

I'd lay across your puddled way
To bring your smile into my day
I'd battle ogre, beast or man
To briefly warm your trembling hand

I'd pick a flower, write a poem
To thank you for the glance you've shown
Of kindness to a broken soul
In your attempt to make it whole

I know that beauty has its place
But time has cast it from my face
I'm not the man I used to be
Now beauty dwells inside of me

I'd give it all, that still remains
Hidden neath these lines of pain
To make your smile of just one day
Maybe shine its light my way
