as i should have indicated in my first post, its not about the weight, its about denying it. starting out with a bio that is dishonest is not a good way to convince someone that you are a good person. when the pics dont match what you call yourself, why would i pursue you any further? just meant to be a FYI.

My thought exactly Liz! If you have definitives, state them in you own profile. That way you have a legit b*tch if someone misrepresents their physical picture to you.

Also, I want to say this.....A few years back, I worked with a guy who was grossly overweight. At first, and because of this, blushing I was not physically attracted to him. He was attracted to me though and he spent a great deal of time getting to know me and letting me get to know him, his personality. He was extremely intelligent, fun, funny, and very nice. I ended up dating him for a while and I must tell you it was a positive experience. Today he is a happily married man and he and his wife are two of my favorite friends!!!!!

the person I was seeing says I should change mine because it says a few extra pounds but I feel I do have a few extra pounds by CA standards.

laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh

That's so true! CA culture, NY city culture, AL culture, WI culture are all so very different.

A 'few' is supposed to be a small number. Its the smallest category in which there is any extra at all.

Anyway, the whole scheme is subjective. I'm not sure you can say anyone is lying, they may just have a completely different subjective interpretation of both "extra" and "few".

Hell, what is "average" in our culture is what I would consider "overweight" - from an overall health perspective, not an aesthetics perspective. Heavy women can be beautiful.

this is true

I recently had a biometric assessment & I was so excited about it because I recently lost some weight - about 1.5-2 clothing sizes, but I figured I have 10-15 more lbs to go. The assessment said I am only 1 lb above the ideal range and the MA suggested I lose 5 lbs. I was like WOW standards have changed. It used to be that those height & weight charts were ridiculous - you;d have to look like Twiggy

anyone else notice that some people on here, and other places think that average weight means two or less fat rolls, and a few extra pounds means "i cant see my feet". if you are not able to be honest with yourself, then how can you expect anyone to take you seriously?

Well we had this discussion a while back here on Mingles and most people said 10 pounds overweight is average. For me personally, 5 pounds overweight would make me from fit to overweight but that is just for my body as I am hard on myself supposedly. I think 10 pounds is a fair for average though.

See this is where we disagree. I think Average means in your average weight range. If you are over that weight range then how far over depends on the classification. I would say 10 pounds over weight is a few extra pounds as it really isn't that much is it? Thus a few.

Yeah, I think I meant to say the same thing that 10 pounds is a few extra pounds; which is average. As for my weight range; I never go by that as I weight lift. I just know what weight I need to be and like to keep within five pounds of where I should be.

You look great from where i am standing.......what's a few pounds between friendsdrinker

I think youre right. At the same time I wonder about this complaining and the statement that you are 'upbeat and positive and U BE the same'. Maybe they are being upbeat and positive about their weight. Its a subjective area that doesnt provide criteria for self diagnoses.
Maybe it would help if you list a weight/height/bmi preference instead. That would make more sense to me since youre looking for 'eye candy' and that is undefined. You also list 'relationship' but go on to say you want 'activity partner'. I really think you should consider your own honesty before complaining about other people.

I find some of the things we have to list to be self limiting - I can list relationship - but that might include activity partner or friend and I'd be open to those listing those things but feel that by listing relationship I come across as someone who wants an instant commitment. I have gone back & forth on my profile between listing friends & relationship....

I have so many pictures that are very recent & look exactly like me that now I am worried that someone will stop me in KMart and say "Hey, aren't you Sweetesgirl?"laugh

Those height and weight charts are silly. They don't account for muscle or bone mass. I was told for years I a was a medium build until one day someone realized that I was a large built woman. My doctor says to go in inches not pounds. Also he checks thinks like blood pressure, cholestorol, and my heart rate which happens to be 50. In his eyes; I am healthy and my weight is not important.

 That happened to me when I was downtown at the post office. It is why my 'main' is dogs playing poker.

Yep, I had a guy recognize me from here at Target a few weeks ago.
