Topic: The way it has worked for me on dating sites | |
---|---|
This dawned on me last night, and it was depressing! I realized that every "relationship" I have had from online dating (whether it was meeting in person, IMing, or LDL w/e-mail and phone calls) was from the guy initially contacting me through the site. Never from me having initiated contact. Not that I don't try! I met a guy here (he contacted me!) who was so cool, crazy, wonderful, lovable, fun. . .but we live too far away, and I am looking for more than e-mail. Now I am back and have begun e-mailing a few guys here and there. No responses! It looks like I just have to sit back and wait!

I have had the same experience... Last night I was ready to give up.. on dating all together.. but all the nice people of JSH made me feel a lot better... I woke up this morning with a better attitude... if they don't want to give a girl/guy the time of day because of her/his looks or whatever the reason then that is that person's loss they could be missing out on something really great

Hi Rivergirl,
No e mails for the crazy lady either (of course I'm in receptive mode, I don't e mail others first as I wouldn't know what to say beyond complimenting their drongles). I guess the word that I eat my dates and use their bones for sacrificial rituals leaked out somehow, damn gossip... :) |

No problems. I love polkas, almost as much as I love peanut butter strudel and brats... :)

having been on numerous dating sites for about three years, can tell you from experience most are not what they claim to be, the most of the men seem to want a quick lay and that is all. then have heard from many women who sounded perfect for a few letters, then when you started talking meetings, they started placing price tags for the hour, overnight or the weekend. with additional fees depending on services, more like escort services than dating.

OMG, Mikey 117, I appreciate your trying to help, but of course I am writing guys who are close to my age, close to where I live, and who I share interests with. Or else my situation wouldn't be such a mystery, would it?

In that case I don't feel bad for eating them, although most of them tasted like musty shower curtains.

I usually wait to be contacted first too. I guess I feel a little awkward being the first to initiate anything. I don't think there is anything wrong with sitting back and waiting. & like the others said it is the other persons loss. I wouldn't take it personal. Good luck to you!!

There is one person who hasn't weighed in, but she appears to be on extended vacation.

I sit & wait also, most times... I am still old fashioned enough
to feel the guys do the first step. |

I haven't had that great of luck on dating sites, either. My last relationship was with someone I met on mate1.com and it turned out we were going to the same school- just different campuses. I went out on a date with a guy from this site and we have too much in common, it seems. He never called me after that initial date. However, I plan on moving to Seattle in a couple years or so for work and decided to search for someone in that area. Well, now I met this guy out there and he and I are starting an online relationship. We're both looking for the same things in life and he's so sweet. Just stay persistant and lean on the people here. I felt like giving up until I my Seattle guy. Online dating can work!
