Where the Wild Things Are great choice! We painted the book - My kids did a mural of the sky - I drew the birds & clouds- they painted the sky and glued on the birds & clouds we also did caves and forest and made the classroom into Where The Wild Things are I kept the sky mural for 12 years - mainly cuz it was some of the best drawing I ever did! My favorite childhood book was a book of ABCs by Phyllis McGinley and The Cat In The Hat by Dr Seuss - all the Seuss books as I got a little older: The Daphne Dumarier mysteries In Cold Blood by Truman Capote (my 7th grade english teacher called my mom because he was worried about me - I read it 3 times in one school year) Ayn Rand - Atlas Shrugged - I was a good reader in jr high John Hershey's Hiroshima and Rachel Carson's Silent Spring then in my senior year I discovered Mark Twain - Huck Finn has remained my favorite book |

Jemima Puddleduck,
Trixie Belden Encyclopedia Brown My family had a subscription to National Geographic which was well loved, year after year. Everyone else has listed many of my favourites. I've always been a voracious reader, so there's not much I haven't read that would be considered "classic" material. Except for Stephen King! Not for me. |

Sweet Valley High (was also a tv series, after the books were successfull), about two twin sisters. One is evil. The other is an angel. I had a girly crush on them, when they appeared on tv.
The Babysitters Club. |

When I was a child, I was fascinated and mesmerized by the Foundation, Robot and Empire series by Isaac Asimov. It was my first taste of hard science fiction and loved every second of it. Immediately hooked.
Those books are what made me become an avid reader of all genres. |
