it is just a tool to divide people. And it has been working for a long time now. Dems and Repubs came from one party that divided because of a disagreement.

United we stand, divided we fall...........ring a bell?

I think the 'party' distinction serves the same as a way to discern the different platforms,, but it becomes much less meaningful when assigned to individuals because no individual will fall squarely in either box (Agreeing 100% with everything in the platform)

even collectively, politicians are still individuals who are defined by a majority concensus more than an absolute one

For more than 200 years, Democrats have represented the interests of working families, fighting for equal opportunities and justice for all Americans.

Our party was founded on the conviction that wealth and privilege shouldn’t be an entitlement to rule and the belief that the values of hardworking families are the values that should guide us.

Republicans believe individuals, not government, can make the best decisions; all people are entitled to equal rights; and decisions are best made close to home.

Sadly though, this post will get buried under a mountain of other posts playing the old "blame game". From accusations of Obama having family here illegally, the lunacy of the Tea Party, to people still holding onto the grudge of the Bush, Clinton, etc. administration. When will people finally recognize the sour taste of deceit fed to us in small yet appetizing bits of political bs?

STRONGLY agree with the op
our political system has become a joke!

Unfortunately it won't get better.
When people look for reasons to divide,
they will always find one.

can't we all get along? Well . . . no, we can't. Not when 2/3 of the people perceive that the other 1/3 have too much power and very dangerous and destructive motives.

How are you going to unite with that going on?

Eventually, (they say) all people will accept the new world order.

... or else.

I declared my independence from the two political parties years ago...I don't like the way that politics is viewed as a sport by so many people today. We have "real life problems" that need to be addressed and taken seriously.

I am in total agreement here, the entire thing has been one party under the guise of two for a long long time.

LOL.......not really, everyone here knows I don't lay claim to either political "party". I feel a few people have good idea on both sides, but I have yet to see anyone go through with them.
