MNhiker, quite frankly if you are dating anyone younger than 30 is probably awfully woefully too young for you which is why those women probably told you that you were TOO OLD for them. My opinions are rooted in a deep underderstanding of human development, sociology, and psychology.

I'd probably go to about 33 maybe 35 but that's pushing it, not that there's anything wrong w/dating older men. It's just my opinion. Older man do seem to be more mature but you don't want some old grump that doesn't crack a smile either.

I try to stick with guys around my age... if the guy is younger maybe a year or two ( I am 25 )I wouldn't go any younger than 22 and that's even really young... as for older I think the very limit would be 31 and it would have to be for the right person.. for me it is hard to date older guys because my brother is 9 years older than me and it just doesn't feel right to me.. I would feel like I am dating my brother's friends

id go four yrs in either direction anymore than that and you starting to have a generation gap were the ammount of things you have in common decreases and it makes communication a lot more difficult and good communication is important to me at least.

my age limit is 52 beyond that then i would have to see. i have had a few guys that are in there 20s that want to date me, even have one that is 27 that has told me his feelings for me.. i have told him time and time again i can be your mamma. i dont think so.. im 42 yrs with 2kids and im grandma i dont think i want to date someone in there 20s.

I have dated a 40 something... that's as far as I would go...

Mnhiker, you should avoid psychology since you are not very adept at it. A person who speaks his/her mind & provides their educational background for the subject matter is not a sign of low self-esteem. It is done quite commonly amongst the professional world since a person's background often provides insight to how he/she has a tendency to think. I have never in my life suffered low self esteem.

On the other hand, there have been several documented cases of low self esteem in males who have a tendencies to date women that are significantly younger. For instance, your age it would include any man that had a tendency to date women younger than greater than 5 years.

P.S.
The reason I noted human development, sociology, and psychology is because I have actually studies these subjects in great depth.

I applaud those women who had the guts to tell you that they were not interested in someone who was too old for them.
