I know, thought it was pretty bad, gotta be careful what we say = remember Mike's warning. His account has been reactivated but when I e-mailed him, it said he was not active. Don't know what that means. So guess he is at least okay this morning.
Take care guys, and have a good day. |

When someone says they are going to commit suicide, we shouldn't assume it is a plea for attention.
http://observer.guardian.co.uk/uk_news/story/0,,2047502,00.html ============================================================== Dozens of internet users who allegedly goaded a depressed father to hang himself could face criminal charges.Kevin Whitrick, 42, killed himself live on the internet after being incited by chatroom users who initially believed he was play-acting. Police investigating the death of the father of two from Telford, Shropshire, have interviewed many of those logged on to the 'insult' chatroom at the Paltalk.com website at the time of the suicide and have passed a file to the Crown Prosecution Service. Any chatroom visitor who urged Whitrick to hang himself could be guilty of assisting suicide, which carries a jail sentence. ============================================================== |

Thank you spider, now maybe some people will wake up and understand that when you do ask for help, it's serious. Each and every time someone asks, we all should try and help the right way, and NOT encourage the act of committing suicide

It's funny...
I was involved in the suicide watch thread last night... And this morning I wake up to an email from Mike about violating forum posting rules. I clearly remember being one of the people last night being supportive of the gentleman in question. I know I said a few things that didn't make people happy about how the tracking of people through email addresses go, but I in no way was abusive to the member in question. Now...why are the people who were clearly being abusive not banned? Did they also get these warning emails? Why is it that the minute anyone around here feels threatened by something someone else says they all run to Mike and claim abuse...are we adults here or not? Cause if I joined this site under false pretenses, I'm going to be very upset... |

HE probably was covering his bases Finger.
Generally in those area's it is a blanket warning that is issued to all involved. |

Look folks -
The whole point of my warning is that you are NOT to attack other members. So don't call anyone "cold", don't say someone should be "banned", etc. They have a legitimate opinion and expressed it. And you are free to do the same, as long as it is in a respectful manner. Most of you have absolutely no context as to what was actually said or whether it was said sarcastically, etc. If you want to argue with their position, that's absolutely fine. You can say "what if they were serious", "why take the chance that they are not joking", etc. etc. But you can't say "you're a cold hearted *****" And finally, you may accuse me of being cold, but in the future, we're going to delete threads like the one last night as soon as they appear. This is a dating site, first and foremost. We delete all threads that cause drama on the forums. And a suicide note certainly qualifies. Thanks, Mike |
