crazier than this is that parents would actually put their children through the HUMILIATION of naming them such things,,,

My grandfather's name was Luther. That's close.

Problem is it never ends, they start by taking small freedoms away, then larger ones, and then larger ones still, until we have none left. Once you give them an inch, they WILL take a mile and they have over time.

Besides all that, why is it any of your business what a parent wants to name their kid? It's their kid, not yours or anyone elses. Just because you don't like what they name their child it gives you the right to tell them they can't? Don't we have more important things to be worrying about anyway than what a parent names their child? We need to get our priorities straight, this should NOT be one of them.

I dont know that its my priority,, I do figure it is the REGISTRAR OF NAMES priority though,, which is the entity which denies such names in New Zealand....

It still shouldn't be. There is much more important things to worry about than what a parent chooses to name their kid.

yeah, they could all just be given numbers, or not record any names at all for newborn humans,,,,,

Here in the US at least we ARE given numbers, they're called social security numbers perhaps you've heard of them........'

As for the 2nd part of that, the state has no business dictating what we name our kids. Period. We should be able to name our kids anything we want to. Anything less just gives them that much more control over us.

here is the deal

they CAN name their child what they want, they can CALL Their child what they want,, the STATE does not have to aknowledge those names legally however, or permit them to be documented as such


so, I can call my daughter 7 all her life, I can write it as '7', but when I go to sign legal documents, Im going to have to use an identification the state is willing to accept,,,,,

Even though I have a "legal" name, it is not illegal to go by another name.

I can basically call myself anything I want. Like Jeanniebean.
