[quote/] I find the scammers pretty easy to spot -- there is a predictability factor to their exchanges.

I've had few friend requests from some of them too. some common sense: a. stay away from anyone from a third world country, unless you have the money to go visit them So you're saying that it's common sense to assume that everyone from a "Third World Country" is a scammer? You do know that not everyone outside your country now is poor and desperate; and judging from your appearance, you're not exactly an original inhabitant of Quebec, if I'm not mistaken. No, I was not born in quebec, therefore don't you think I am uniquely suited to know what people from a third world country are capable of. Besides I didn't say you shouldn't date them, I said stay away from them, if you cannot meet the person to verify what they tell you is true. Isn't it better to be safe than sorry? |

I had one this past week. He kept saying I should move to New York and get married to him. I had a feeling something was up when he said that and his English was bad for it saying he was a 41 year old white male. The next day his account was deactivated.

What you first posted gave a very distinct generalization that everyone from "THIRD world countries" are scammers. Since your latest post gave an impression that you came from one, don't you think I was right in pointing out that NOT ALL PEOPLE who originates or lives there are? I have been in a number of countries, have friends and relatives all over the globe, yes, especially in the US and Canada. I know that every country has its share of evil people, whores, scammers and all that. I do agree with you that the capacity to meet the person you'll be corresponding to should always be a prerogative, because it is better to be safe than sorry. But this rule should encompass every person you would like to establish a relationship with regardless of geographical location. |

I've had few friend requests from some of them too. some common sense: a. stay away from anyone from a third world country, unless you have the money to go visit them b. ignore people who ask you to communicate with them outside this site, right from the beginning, that's suspicious. c. use a seperate e-mail just for this site d. never give out personal info, before meeting the person, your username is enough to get to know people. e. remember, most often if something is too good to be true it probably is. but don't get discouraged, as long as you use your common sense, you should be fine :) While most of this is good, I would not agree to meet someone who only gave me a user name and not their real name. That's a little too paranoid for me. |

Somebody did that to me. He wouldn't stop asking, but i wasn't falling for it. I have a sixth sense, so i know when something dodgy is going on. I just started ignoring him. You could block the person, too. hey, i was just asking... |
